Soul Reaver 2D
This is a fan remake of the classic PS1 title "Soul Reaver" in a 2D sprite based platformer.
The story is of a vampire named Raziel, who was betrayed by his master, Kain. He was cast
into the Abyss and left for dead. Centuries later he is resurrected by The Elder God to act
as his "Soul Reaver." He is sent to take revenge on his former master and kin, to return
their vampire souls back to the cycle of the Wheel of Fate.
The demo can be downloaded here(13.12MB):

I started this project to learn the basics of creating a platformer with Game Maker. It was
created almost entirely with the DD system and I have only gone into code where the DD could
not provide an answer.
I have so far created the first 8 levels of the game, which include;
-Title screen,
-A short introduction,
-Basic tutorial on how to play (learn while you play),
-Many of the PS1 title's game play functions, such as realm shifting and soul gathering,
-2 types of AI enemy and 1 type of static hazard,
-Weapons to pick up and fight with
-The first boss fight, Melchiah!
-Upgrades from defeating bosses
-Combo attacks and finishing moves,
-3 "Save and Load slots",
-Music, speech and sound effects from the original game,
-Custom icon and loading screen,
-A short in-game help file (recommended read) that can be called by F1.
